Bitcoin Dominance Drops: Traders Predict Bullish Altcoin Market and Upcoming ‘Altseason’

Drop in Bitcoin Dominance and Bullish Altcoin Market Structure

Bitcoin Dominance Declines

In recent weeks, Bitcoin has shown a decrease in its market dominance, causing industry analysts to predict the potential start of an “altseason.” Altcoins have demonstrated notable strength, particularly as Bitcoin began its recovery over the past month. This shift in market dynamics suggests that altcoins might be on the verge of a significant rally.

Altcoin Market Gains Momentum

ParabolicPump, a co-founder of Crypto Capital, noted that many altcoins have experienced bullish trends recently. Similarly, trader 360Trader pointed out that the total crypto market capitalization, excluding Bitcoin and Ethereum, has tested significant resistance levels. A breakthrough at these levels could signal a robust market for altcoins, potentially marking the end of a bearish phase.

Market Indicators and Predictions

According to ParabolicPump, as altcoin prices surge, Bitcoin’s market dominance is poised for a substantial decline. Historically, every major bull run in the cryptocurrency market has seen a significant drop in Bitcoin’s dominance. As of late September, Bitcoin’s dominance stood at 57.4%, down by 1.09% from the previous week.

Nebraskangooner, another popular analyst, added that Bitcoin’s dominance recently peaked at 58.6%, which may indicate a weakening market structure for Bitcoin. This observation is supported by a bearish divergence in the relative strength index (RSI), suggesting that investors might soon shift their focus to altcoins.

Technical Analysis of Altcoins

Pseudonymous analyst Moustache observed that the total market cap of altcoins, excluding Bitcoin, is breaking out of a descending broadening wedge. This pattern has persisted for the past six months. Moustache highlighted that the RSI has broken out of its downward trend, and the moving average convergence divergence (MACD) indicator is showing signs of a bullish crossover. These technical signals suggest that altcoins are gearing up for a substantial rally.

Market Sentiment and Data

Despite the encouraging technical indicators, it is premature to declare the onset of an altcoin season. The altcoin season index by Blockchain Center states that for an altcoin season to be officially recognized, 75% of the top 50 coins must outperform Bitcoin over the last 90 days. Currently, only 39% of the leading altcoins have done so, indicating that the market is not yet in a full-blown altcoin season.

Conclusion

Although the data points towards a potential rise in altcoin market activity, it is essential to approach these developments with caution. Investors should conduct thorough research and consider the inherent risks associated with cryptocurrency investments. The market dynamics are continually evolving, and while the signs are promising for altcoins, the final confirmation of an altcoin season remains to be seen.
