Bitcoin Investment Inflows Reach $1 Billion as BTC Climbs to $66K
Bitcoin Investment Surge
Investors have shown a remarkable interest in Bitcoin investment products, with recent data indicating inflows surpassing $1 billion in just one week. The cryptocurrency’s price rally to $66,000 has significantly attracted capital into crypto funds and exchange-traded products (ETPs).
Weekly and Monthly Inflows
The latest report from CoinShares highlights that crypto asset investment products experienced a third consecutive week of inflows, totaling $1.2 billion between September 23 and September 27. Bitcoin investment products captured the lion’s share, attracting $1 billion in inflows during this period, accounting for 87% of the total.
On a monthly scale, Bitcoin funds led the charge with $1.1 billion in inflows in September, boosting the total assets under management (AuM) to $74.6 billion.
Ethereum and Other Cryptos
While Bitcoin dominated the inflows, Ethereum investment products also saw positive movement. Ether (ETH) products ended a five-week streak of negative flows, amassing $87 million in inflows. Despite this, they still recorded outflows of $60 million month-to-date.
Overall, inflows into all crypto investment products reached $1.2 billion, pushing the total AuM up by 6.2% to $92.7 billion.
Market Sentiment and Expectations
James Butterfill, head of research at CoinShares, attributes the high inflows to expectations of dovish monetary policies in the United States, which have fueled positive market sentiments. The approval of options for certain US-based investment products has also likely boosted investor confidence.
Data from Alternative, a platform that assesses emotions and sentiments around cryptocurrencies, supports this optimistic view. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index has surged to its highest level since July 31, entering the “greed” zone at 61, up from 30 a month ago when the market was dominated by “fear.”
Bitcoin Price Dynamics
Bitcoin’s price experienced a significant rally of 26.5% between September 6 and September 27, reaching a local high of $66,840. However, it has since corrected, trading at $63,815 at the time of publication.
Analysts like McKenna note the importance of the $65,000 level, suggesting that breaking this barrier would signal the end of a broader downtrend that has kept Bitcoin within a descending channel since its all-time high in March.
Resistance and Market Outlook
Liquidation data from Coinglass shows substantial liquidity orders between $65,000 and $66,000, indicating a strong resistance level. Bitcoin bulls must push the price above this range to maintain the recovery momentum, with the next significant barrier lying between the psychological $68,000 level and the 2021 all-time high of $69,000.
