Bitcoin Bulls Eye $64K as US Stock Market Targets New Record

Bitcoin Bulls Aim for $64K as US Stocks Hit New Heights

Bitcoin and Stocks Move in Sync

Bitcoin’s price surged to $63,000 on September 19 as Wall Street opened. This price gain mirrored the rise in US stocks, indicating a growing parallel between Bitcoin and traditional risk assets.

Financial Policy and Market Movements

Data from market analysis platforms showed Bitcoin reaching new three-week highs close to $63,500. This uptick followed a significant 0.5% interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve, which spurred investor enthusiasm.

Both equities and gold saw upward trends, with the S&P 500 nearing record highs. Bitcoin also began to break through key resistance levels, approaching its peak from earlier in the year.

“The US 2Y/10Y treasury spread, a key recession indicator, has been inverted since July 2022 but recently steepened to +8bps, showing market optimism and a shift towards riskier assets,” noted QCP Capital in their latest update.

Market Sentiment and Predictions

Optimism was prevalent among Bitcoin traders. Popular trader Byzantine General described the market as “strong,” while Michaël van de Poppe, another well-known trader, noted that Bitcoin was “doing great.”

Van de Poppe suggested a period of consolidation before further upward movement, attributing the market’s rise to Federal Reserve Chairman Powell’s comments. He advised investors to buy on dips.

Resistance Levels and Institutional Behavior

Recent data highlighted resistance just below $64,000, a popular target post-Fed rate cut. Meanwhile, institutional investors showed a notable decrease in shorting Bitcoin.

Ki Young Ju, founder of CryptoQuant, observed a 75% decline in CME Group Bitcoin futures net positioning over the past five months. This shift indicates that institutions are no longer aggressively betting against Bitcoin.

ETF Flows and Market Outlook

Despite mixed flows for US spot Bitcoin ETFs, there was a significant slowdown in institutional shorting. Farside Investors noted net negative inflows for September 18, contrasting with a positive inflow of $187 million the previous day.

In summary, Bitcoin’s price is making significant strides, aligning with the broader market’s positive sentiment. As institutional behavior shifts and the market embraces riskier assets, Bitcoin bulls are setting their sights on the $64,000 mark.
