Bitcoin Trader Claims BTC Price Bottom Not Yet Reached

Bitcoin Trader’s Perspective on BTC Price Bottom

Market Sentiment and Bitcoin’s Short-Term Support

On September 17, Bitcoin (BTC) managed to hold its short-term support despite a decline in overall crypto market sentiment. This came after a broad sell-off at the Wall Street open, where BTC/USD found some stability as it reclaimed $58,000 during the Asia trading session. The 21-day moving average (SMA) remained a crucial support level for Bitcoin.

Key Moving Averages and Market Reactions

Popular trader Keith Alan highlighted the significance of the 21-day and 50-week simple moving averages (SMA). At the time, these stood at $57,858 and $53,945, respectively. Alan noted that while losing the 21-day SMA would be negative, closing above the 50-week SMA was more critical.

The Role of the 50-Week EMA

Jelle, another well-known trader, pointed out that the 50-week exponential moving average (EMA) has been a reliable support level throughout the past 20 months of the Bitcoin bull market. He noted that periods of market consolidation, or “summer chop,” often precede new highs. Jelle suggested that if this pattern holds, Bitcoin could reach new all-time highs within a month.

Diverging Opinions on Bitcoin’s Future

Despite some optimistic views, trader and analyst Josh Rager expressed caution. He argued that it’s premature to declare a price bottom for BTC. Rager pointed to a downward-sloping channel in place since March’s all-time high, characterized by successive lower highs and lower lows. He emphasized that while a new low isn’t guaranteed, it’s too early to call the current price the bottom.

Crypto Market Sentiment Dips

Bitcoin’s uncertain price movement has contributed to a decline in overall crypto market sentiment. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index dropped to 33/100 on September 17, down from 50/100 just two days prior. This shift marked a transition from “neutral” to “fear,” following a mere 4% decline in BTC’s price.

Conclusion

The current sentiment and technical indicators highlight the uncertainty surrounding Bitcoin’s price. While some traders remain optimistic about future highs, others urge caution, emphasizing that it’s too early to call a definitive price bottom. As always, investors should conduct their own research and consider the inherent risks in trading and investing.
