Why Bitcoin Liquidations Won’t Break the $70K+ Barrier: Key Insights

Bitcoin Bulls Stampede Toward $60,000

Over the past five days, Bitcoin’s (BTC) price has rebounded strongly from its recent low of $52,500. Technical charts suggest this momentum could push the price into the $62,000 to $65,000 range.

Weekly Lower Highs and Market Structure

Despite the recent rise, Bitcoin is still making weekly lower highs. Each sell-off turns previous support levels into resistance. Futures liquidation-driven sell-offs keep producing lower lows with deep wicks. This means Bitcoin price remains in a structured downtrend.

For a market structure reversal, we’d need to see weekly closes above the previous week’s candle and eventually above $65,000. This would give bulls a chance to break the range high and the descending trendline at $66,000, potentially ending a six-month downtrend.

Day-to-Day Price Action and Trader Strategies

In the shorter term, momentum traders have likely been profiting from buying dips to the descending trendline and selling at the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level. If lower weekly highs continue, indicators like Bollinger Bands, the 200-day moving average, and Bitcoin’s Fib levels suggest the current rally will hit resistance between $62,000 and $63,000.

Sustaining Spot Demand

Beyond daily and weekly price actions, there’s still an issue with sustainable spot demand from buyers. Most of Bitcoin’s upward price movement is driven by forced buying due to liquidations. Once this momentum dries up, there’s not enough buying interest to push through resistance levels.

Conclusion

Bitcoin bulls are pushing the price towards $60,000, but breaking above the $70,000 range high will require more than just liquidations. Sustained buying demand and overcoming key resistance levels are crucial for a significant upward move.
