Will Bitcoin Prices Crash Again? Latest Predictions and Analysis

Bitcoin Price Forecast: Will It Crash Again?

Bitcoin’s price has experienced a significant drop recently, falling nearly 25% from its record high of around $74,000 in March to as low as $56,000 as of September 11. Multiple indicators suggest that the cryptocurrency might face further declines in the upcoming weeks.

Death Cross Formation and Its Implications

One of the key signals indicating a potential decline in Bitcoin’s price is the formation of a “death cross” on its daily charts. This pattern occurs when the 50-day exponential moving average (EMA) crosses below the 200-day EMA. Historically, a death cross has often been a precursor to extended bearish momentum.

For example, a death cross in January 2022 preceded a roughly 60% drop in Bitcoin’s price. Currently, Bitcoin is nearing this critical formation once again, which has raised concerns among traders and analysts. If Bitcoin breaks below its interim support level of around $56,560, it could potentially drop to the next support level at approximately $52,220, and possibly as low as $50,000.

Analyst Predictions: Short-Term Pain, Long-Term Gain?

Analyst Michael van de Poppe anticipates that Bitcoin’s price could dip toward $50,000 or even lower, especially following the release of the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) report on September 11. However, he also suggests that this may be a temporary correction. If Bitcoin manages to stay above the $55,000-$56,000 support area, it could rebound to around $60,000.

On September 11, the Bureau of Labor Statistics is expected to report a 2.6% year-over-year increase in U.S. inflation for August. While this is an uptick, it would still be the lowest inflation rate in over three years, fueling speculation that the Federal Reserve might cut interest rates during its meeting on September 18-19. The crypto market has been buoyed by the anticipation that the Fed will reduce rates, and a rate cut could potentially help Bitcoin recover.

The Impact of Yen Carry Trade on Bitcoin

Another factor contributing to Bitcoin’s potential decline is the unwinding of yen carry trades. The Japanese yen has appreciated by about 15% against the U.S. dollar since its low in 2024, largely due to the Bank of Japan’s hawkish stance. This led to the unwinding of yen carry trades, where traders borrow in low-interest currencies like the yen to invest in higher-yielding assets such as the dollar.

The strengthening of the yen has had a ripple effect across global markets, including cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. If the Bank of Japan continues its hawkish policies, it could trigger further sell-offs in Bitcoin following their meeting on September 19.

Conclusion

The combination of a potential death cross, upcoming U.S. inflation data, and the impact of yen carry trades are all contributing to a bearish outlook for Bitcoin in the short term. However, some analysts believe that any decline could be temporary, with potential for a rebound if key support levels hold. Investors should remain cautious and conduct their own research before making any trading decisions.
