“Native Restaking Rewards Coming Soon for EigenLayer AVS ARPA”

EigenLayer and ARPA to Launch Native Restaking Rewards Soon

Introduction to EigenLayer and ARPA

EigenLayer is making waves in the blockchain world with its innovative restaking protocols. ARPA, a Web3 protocol, is set to issue native token rewards to restakers by September or October, as confirmed by Jason Zhao, ARPA’s business development lead.

Native Token Rewards and Incentives

ARPA is not only planning to reward restakers with its native token but is also testing an incentives program. This program offers extra EIGEN reward boosts to stakers and operators, according to Felix Xu, ARPA’s CEO. This initiative marks the first instance of EigenLayer’s third-party actively validated services (AVS) paying restakers to secure and validate its network.

Milestone for Restaking Protocols

This development is a significant milestone for EigenLayer and other restaking protocols, which have collectively amassed nearly $14 billion since 2023. Restaking allows tokens, already staked as collateral with a validator, to secure additional protocols simultaneously, enhancing yields on staked Ether (ETH).

Dominance of EigenLayer in Restaking

EigenLayer, launched in 2023, dominates the restaking market with approximately $11 billion in total value locked (TVL). Other notable restaking protocols include Symbiotic and Karak. Initially, EigenLayer only accepted ETH and its liquid staking derivatives (LSD) as collateral. However, it has since expanded to accept various tokens, including Threshold Bitcoin (tBTC) and ARPA.

Expansion of ARPA’s Staking Pool

ARPA, launched in 2018, uses multi-party computation (MPC) for secure random number generation without centralized intermediaries. Its main product, Randcast, is used in applications from gaming to on-chain governance. The integration with EigenLayer has significantly expanded ARPA’s staking pool, now secured by 26 validators representing nearly $2.9 billion in staked ETH collateral.

Future of Restaking Networks

Restaking protocols like EigenLayer aim to attract customers who will pay for the services these networks provide. For ARPA, EigenLayer’s operators offer a new avenue to onboard nodes and add economic security to safeguard the ARPA network.

Conclusion

The launch of native restaking rewards by EigenLayer and ARPA is a pivotal moment in the blockchain space. It showcases the potential of restaking protocols to enhance yields and secure multiple networks simultaneously. As restaking continues to evolve, it promises to bring further innovations and opportunities to the blockchain community.
